Oyamada Yasuto

Oyamada Yasuto was raised in born and raised in Kagoshima City in southern Japan. At the age of 16, he started working at a sushi ya (restaurant) as a part-time job after school. When he reached the age of 18, he  moved to Tokyo Shinjuku to learn the traditional ways of handling fish and how to respect nature’s seasons and colors.

When he was 21, I moved to New York. he worked in several restaurants and learned many more skills, including nabe, robata (yakitori), kobachi (small dishes), and noodles. He then consulted and opened Japanese restaurants in London, England and St. Petersburg, Russia. He learned the Japanese fusion style of cooking in the famous restaurant Morimoto in New York, where he served big names like Jay Z, Uma Thurman, George Lucas and Mayor Bloomberg.  While inNew York, he met a drop-dead gorgeous Israeli woman. They got married inKagoshima City,Japan, in the traditional Shinto way, and then relocated to Israel. In Tel Aviv, he joined Rocca’s open sushi bar and learned Mediterranean cuisine.

After that, he worked at the Sheraton hotel in Jerusalem where he opened a kosher sushi bar. In 2014 he opened a Lounge Bar Chef in Tel Aviv called Fugu.
